A PLACE BUILT FOR GATHERING
SINCE 2025
The Story Behind KB Ranch
The ranch’s story actually starts with two dogs: Kona and Bentley.
Before KB Ranch ever existed, Carissa and Conor were just neighbors in Fort Collins. Kona (Carissa’s dog) quickly became known for her independent spirit — especially her habit of hopping fences to visit the neighborhood elementary school children during playtime. The kids absolutely loved her. On most days you could hear them chanting her name while she soaked up attention, snacks, and belly rubs like she owned the place. The neighbors, local kids, and even animal control all became very familiar with Kona’s adventurous personality.
Meanwhile, Conor lived next door with his dog Bentley, who quickly became Kona’s best friend. While Kona wrestled with Bentley and planned her next great escape, Carissa and her friends attempted to solve Kona’s fence-jumping problem themselves — armed with weed-whacker line, chicken wire, and pure determination. The result was… well-intentioned, but not exactly Kona-proof.
After observing this project from his backyard (while responsibly drinking beers with his roommate), Conor eventually made a Home Depot run, rebuilt the fence properly, and — once the job was finished — asked Carissa on their first date. They instantly bonded over dogs, the outdoors, and sushi, and the rest is history.
Years later, after losing Kona and Bentley, Carissa and Conor purchased KB Ranch in their honor — a space that reflects the same spirit of joy, adventure, and connection those dogs brought into their lives. Today, the ranch is home to a growing family of animals and serves as a place where people come to celebrate, laugh, and create meaningful experiences together.
